 Letter Icon In Tray
« Thread Started on Oct 26, 2004, 9:54am »

Im using the beta and occasionally (like today) I get an icon blinking where my eprompter icon is in the tray that looks like a letter. Is there any way to get rid of this icon or can someone tell me what its for?

unown,

The blinking icon is a link to a user notification message that is sent by the ePrompter developers. Sometimes they are sent to all users or to just the beta users like yourself.

Double-click the icon and it will open the ePrompter user interface. Now look for the same (larger) icon at the top of the interace and double-click it again. The message should now open for you to read. You will note that the icon stops blinking once you've read the message.

Also note that you can't delete these types of messages. The letter icon normally sits on the ePrompter interface for about 12 hours then disappears on its own.

Thanks X. It seems that I cannot find the larger version of the icon on my beta version once i double click in the tray. I have a large eprompter logo on the left side, and update link in the middle that is being partially covered by a large light blue box with the caption "Tell your friends about eprompter." It takes up the entire top right portion of the eprompter gui. Any way to move it or something so i can get to the icon that i need?

What display style are you using? As a beta user, you probably have noticed that there are 4 display styles for that version of eP.

I'm assuming that you are using "Style 2" since it doesn't allow you to see the larger icon in the main display. If so, then choose one of the other three and see what happens!

Hey X,

Can I buy a version without that blue "tell your friends" box on it?

There is no version that you can purchase. Sorry!

ok, can i get a free version without that blue label on it? Also, willing to try my hand at a new interface... everything has to be the same size as the current version, correct?

Again, no. ;) There is no version -- paid or free -- that doesn't have the blue label. Wish I had better news, unown....

Yup. Have you responded to Craig's invitation in that message for the graphics guidelines? Send it to the GUI@eprompter.com address and he'll respond ASAP.

Ok, well Ill think it over. Im not sure I would waste my time designing a GUI to have a horrid bright blue label stuck in the middle of it. That thing is a nightmare to design around. Thank you for your response, and as a programmer myself I understand the enormous amount of time it takes to delete a control off of a form....

Huh? I've been assuming all this time that that you're referring to the "Tell your friends about ePrompter" label. Am I correct?

If so, then no, you don't have to include that in the revised GUI. I can't imagine that the developers would keep it looking like that in a revamped interface. It might possibly be shown as a subtle icon or link.

If that isn't the label you're referring to, then please post back with a clarification.

Thanx unown!
